“Oh come now pet, you know you love me. Just save us both the trouble and admit it already.” Spike almost demanded despite his words carrying a air of something playful.
As much as he was right, you couldn’t bring yourself to be honest. Not when you knew he was only here because Buffy didn’t want anything to do with him.
“Don’t play coy sweet bit.” He moves to stand in your path, effectively blocking your way. He grins easily, his pale features oddly calm. He can’t help but think you were only being stubborn because of your pride. Although he did like Buffy for longer than he liked to admit, she didn’t see him the same way—so he moved on.
Not only did his feelings for Buffy fade, his feelings for you really caught him off guard—consumed him really. You were always there but he never saw you in your whole beautiful entirety till now. It was like everything about you was magnified.
Everything from the gorgeous color in your sparkling eyes, the way your laugh seemed to fill the room and reverberate in his chest to the way your smile made his cold dead heart flutter with life.
Teasing you was fun, hilarious even but this was no game to him. He really wanted something more with the human who seemed to be all he could think about.
