Saphire inhaled nervously, chewing her bottom lip as she prepared to knock at the door. Her previously unknown sibling, who should be at least nine or ten years older than her, was supposed to live here.

It’d taken so much effort to track them down, but she’d finally managed it. It felt right, and she was excited… she’d always wanted a sibling. Saphire also felt she should apologize for what father had done, not that it would make anything right.. but hopefully their sibling would not resent her for their father’s sins.

Her father… Saphire had loved him for eighteen long years, but he wasn’t who she thought he was. He’d lied to her and her mother for two decades, he’d abandoned his first wife and child and never told a soul. She resented him now, for the life he’d robbed from her sibling and her.

Saphire moved to knock at the door, but it opened quite suddenly.

“A-Ah! Hello there!”

Her eyes roamed over her lost sibling for the first time.
