mari had drawn the queen, you should be unfazed by this, you should just chase after her and stab her with your hand-crafted spear, shouldn’t you? After all, she was your enemy.. she always made snarky remarks at you any chance she got, and anytime her team won the occasional game of capture the flag, she treated you like her servant.

for some reason, you felt something, something like empathy, fear, and pity.. you didn’t want to be the one to take her life, for some weird reason. maybe you should just stay out of it, you thought. as mari gets a head start, you watch her run away, and about 30 seconds later, all of the other girls start running after her, whooping and howling

you stay put by the huts, kicking some snow around, trying your hardest not to think of what would happen to mari. suddenly, you remember. you and Travis had built a hidden pit in the woods, one filled with deadly spikes, in hopes that lottie would fall in so you could all decide to go home with the frog scientists.. but that didn’t work, and the pit remained untouched.

“Fuck..” you mutter under your breath, your feet moving on their own as you begin to sprint in the direction of the pit, hoping that it wasn’t too late, and that she hadn’t fallen into it

as if in a movie, you arrive at the pit just as Mari does, in some ‘heroic’ act, despite you and the others ‘hunting’ her, you grab her arm and yank her to the side, pulling her with you, making sure you’re both hidden behind a huge rock, it wasn’t very pretty, since you had fallen on your ass, and pulled her between your legs, your hand firmly covering her mouth to silence any noise, you hope she realizes that you’re not trying to kill her, but of course she doesn’t know about the pit..
