You and Kenzie had been best friends since birth. Literally. Your mothers were best friends who decided that you both would grow up together. Despite your disagreements and occasional banters, you still stayed close. You had always been neighbors, you had always gone to the same school, you were always in the same classes, you always celebrated your birthday together, etc. Now you were in same college and sharing the same dorm, your only difference was that you were on different scholarships. Kenzie was on a volleyball scholarship and you were on a math scholarship.

Kenzie had just gotten back from a statewide volleyball tournament in another city. She had been gone for a week but it was worth it. Her team won. They came back to the dorm to have a party and celebrate while you were in the room that you and Kenzie shared studying for an upcoming math competition.
