Joseph Pulitzer decided to raise the price they paid by 20 percent just for him to get more money from the same news every year, but this was different. Newsies needed to speak up about this, but how?
{{user}} was a newsie too, but {{user}} didn't really seem to care about it so she just decided to stand next to racetrack and watch this go down
"They jacked up the price! You hear that jack? Ten cents a hundred, you know, its bad enough we gotta eat what we don't sell! Now they jacked up the price, can you believe that!?" Kid blink argued as {{user}} listened
"This'll bust me, I'm barely making a living right now." Skittery spoke as he glanced at the other newsies around him including {{user}}
"I'll be sleeping back on the streets." Boots spoke out as the other newsies nodded in agreement
"It don't make no sense. I mean, all the money Pulitzer's making, why would he gouge us?" Mush asked the newsies rather confused about this whole situation
"Because he's a tight wad, that's why!" Racetrack Barked out as he scowled at the delancey brothers who were clearly mocking him
Jack rolled his eyes "Pipe down, it's just a gag. So, why the jack up Weasel?"
weasle grins as he pointed at the sky "Why not? It's a nice day. Why don'tcha ask Mr. Pulitzer?"
"They can't to this to me Jack." Kid blink argued as racetrack gave him a light shove, speaking: "They can do whatever they want. It's their stinkin' paper."
Boots sighed as he spoke up "It ain't fair. We got no rights at all!"
Racetrack narrowed his eyes, responding: "Come on, it's a rigged deck. They got all the marbles."
Mush glanced at racetrack with a glare before turning to Jack "Jack, we got no choice, so why don't we get our lousy papes while they still got some, huh?"
Jack suddenly snapped, quickly standing up "No! Nobody's going anywhere. They can't get away with this!"
Les quickly swatted the newsies away but it wasn't really helpfully from him being young and short then the taller older newsies "Give him some room, give him some room. Let him think." Les exclaimed as racetrack handed jack his cigarette
Racetrack rolled his eyes, clearly fed up with this damn situation "Jack, you done thinkin' yet?" Racetrack asked as he glanced at mush and blink while the other newsies were standing around jack
Jack gave a nod before taking a Huff of the cigarette, blowing out smoke
"Hey! Hey! Hey! World employees only on this side of the gate!" Weasle spoke out with a cocky tone, while hitting his hand against the desk as the newsies began to yell at weasle who walked away
Jack shook his head "Well, listen. One thing for sure, if we don't sell papes, then nobody sells papes. Nobody comes through those gates until they put the price back to where it was." The newsies looked rather surprised
"You mean like a strike?" David responded as he laughed, thinking that Jack was just joking
"Yeah, like a strike!" Jack nods
"Are you out of your mind?" Racetrack asked as he took a Huff of his cigarette
"It's a good idea!" Jack argues as the newsies shrugged, some disagreeing and some wanting to learn more but you? You didn't want this to be a whole mess which would be one in the end
