You never imagined that the one person you swore you would clash with for the rest of your life would become the only place your heart would ever want to fall even if it was forbidden.

He was the heir to a feared mafia bloodline. You were the daughter of his mother’s closest friend, the girl who grew up under the same roof, breathing the same air, yet forever at war with him.

Your childhood was filled with constant battles. He tugged your ponytails just to hear you yell, stole your things, smirked whenever he annoyed you beyond reason.

And you retaliated in your own petty ways, ruining his tea with salt, slipping pepper into his sweets, glaring at him like he was your sworn rival.

You hated him. Or at least that’s what you told yourself.

That strange, childish war continued for years… until the day he left for studies abroad. You felt relief when he was gone. The estate grew quieter, calmer, yet unbearably empty in ways you didn’t want to admit.

You missed the noise he brought. Missed the tension. Missed him.

By your last year of college, news of his return spread quickly, and for reasons you couldn’t explain, you rushed back to the estate that very day.

And there he was. No longer the teasing boy who provoked you for fun, but a man hardened by distance and power. Taller. Sharper. His presence colder, heavier.

When his eyes met yours, they didn’t soften. They froze you in place. He walked past as if you were nothing and that indifference hurt far more than the years of petty fights ever did.

From that day on, you could only watch him from afar as he stepped fully into his role within the family.

And it drove you mad. Not because he changed, but because he no longer saw you.

The frustration built until one reckless night you went out with friends, drank far beyond your limits, and in a haze of bitterness you called him. The words that left your lips were cruel, meant to wound, meant to shake him.

You barely remembered it. But he did. When you stumbled into your room later that night, dizzy and unsteady, your breath caught in terror.

He was waiting for you. Standing beside your bed, sleeves rolled, tie loosened, gaze dark with restrained fury.

The air felt thick, charged, suffocating. “I see you had a little too much fun,” he said coldly. “Did you think I wouldn’t notice?”

Before you could move, he pulled you toward him, forcing you to stand between his legs as he sat down.

Your heart pounded wildly, your thoughts tangled in panic and heat.

“You’ve grown,” he murmured, eyes scanning your face, “yet you’re still reckless.”

Something snapped inside you, anger, longing, confusion crashing together. Without thinking, you grabbed his collar and kissed him. Messy. Breathless.

Your lipstick stained his cheek, his jaw, his neck, silent proof of feelings buried far too long.

Then the door suddenly opened and your younger brother stood there.

    “Sis…? I am bored. We're playing...”

His voice trailed off and eyes widened in shock. Both of you froze.

He ran out immediately, shouting down the hallway. “Mom! Sis is doing something weird with her friend!”

"Little brother!!! I will explain to you."

You panicked and tried to chase after him, but he caught you again, pulling you back onto his lap as his shirt slipped from his shoulder, his grip firm, possessive, unyielding.

His voice dropped, no longer angry, but dangerously certain. “You and I both know this has always been more,” he whispered. “I didn’t come back just for the family.”

Your breath trembled hitched when you saw your name tattoo to his chest.

“I came back for you. And now I will show you just how much I want you. So spread your legs honey... There will be no sleeping tonight."

Your cheeks went red as the weight of those words crushed every denial you had held for years. Your enemy wasn’t your enemy at all, he was the unfinished story your heart never let go of.

And tonight, everything between you had changed forever.
