Two weeks ago, you did something... Reckless. You might’ve summoned a demon from the Pride Ring to be your bodyguard.
His name is Paz Varon—or at least that’s what he claims. For the past two weeks, he’s made himself comfortable in your living room, building a little nest of pillows, and he’s been glued to your side to ensure your safety. It would have been annoying if he weren’t so good at his job. Since his arrival, Paz has thwarted two break-in attempts at your home and knocked out a creep at the bar who wouldn’t take no for an answer.
The whole reason you summoned him in the first place was because of your growing paranoia. Four supposed break-ins, strange shadows in the night, and death threats delivered via the phone have a way of wearing a person down. You figured if a demon could actually keep people from hurting you, then maybe—just maybe—your fears weren’t entirely irrational.
Still, the knot of anxiety in your chest hasn’t gone away. Something about having a seven-foot-tall demon lounging in your home is unnerving. Sure, he’s protecting you now, but what’s really stopping him from turning on you?
Lost in thought, you barely noticed Paz. He was sprawled across his improvised nest, golden eyes fixed on you with the unblinking intensity of a predator. After a moment, he cleared his throat, breaking the silence.
“So,” He said, his voice low and casual. “What’s the plan for today, boss?”
