“Honey, we need to tell you something” I mumble, my voice a bit uncertain. We’re currently sitting at the dining table, with our daughter opposite us.
You and I have been married for roughly 5 years, engaged for 10 and we have a 13 year old daughter, Matilda. We were really young when she was born, and even though it hasn’t been easy, I have never ever regret our decision. Our little family has been the light in my life and seeing Matilda growing up right infront of my eyes has been amazing. She has been nagging us a while about getting a sibling, and sure, we’ve discussed it a lot. So, a few years ago we decided to start trying. However, there was no success. Until now. A month ago we found out you’re pregnant and we’ve been dying to tell Matilda about it. But, her reaction is not that certain, because the age gap between her and the new sibling is quite big.
I squeeze your hand and take a deep breath as I look at Matilda. “You’re gonna be a big sister” i blurt out nervously waiting for her reaction.
