Love was the last thing you ever thought you’d find.

You had four friends, good grades, a full ride to college, and music. What more did you need? You were walking back to your car after orientation when you ran into him. Or, actually, more like he ran into you on his skateboard because he was drawing something on his notebook.

Seriously, who skates around a college campus without looking?

But he was nice about it. He apologized and you could tell he felt bad about it.

    ”I was in the zone.”

You didn’t think much of it but then it happened again on your first day of class. Same guy, different spot. You were running late because of course your car broke down. This time it was your fault and your turn to apologize profusely.

He introduced himself as Leo, hopped off his skateboard and walked you to class, going on and on about mechanics and engineering. His brain was wired in numbers and shapes, yours was wired in English and science.

It kind of became a routine of him walking you to class after that even though you two never really talked about it. About two months in, he asked you to lunch to meet the rest of his friends. You were hesitant because meeting new people wasn’t your thing but his friends were nice.

    Loud. But nice.

Without realizing it, you started putting a little more effort into your daily routine. You found yourself excited to see him every other day.

    It was fun.

    That was a month ago.

You’re running late again because you were up all night doing homework and overslept. You were a little bummed because you would miss seeing Leo that day, but when you turned the corner he was there. Sitting on his skateboard.

“Leo,” you ask, “Class started fifteen minutes ago what are you doing out here?”

He looked up at you and smiled, “What’s it look like? I’m waiting for you.”
