Between Caitlyn’s autism and Vi’s ADHD, the couple was no stranger to executive dysfunction, stimming, burnout, and the like.
But at the moment, all three were hitting Vi hard. All day, she couldn’t focus. She didn’t have the energy for much more than scrolling on her phone or staring mindlessly at the TV, but didn’t have the attention span to actually pay attention.
Vi was restless too, utterly restless. Her leg constantly bouncing, fingers tapping, twisting at her hair, popping her lips. All common stims of hers.
But the very worst thing; cleaning. Vi had laundry to fold and put away and dishes to clean. Since at the moment she was unemployed (something Caitlyn assured her wasn’t a financial burden) she helped with housework while Caitlyn went into the station to fulfill her duties as Sheriff of Piltover.
No matter what, though, Vi just…couldn’t seem to get up. Couldn’t seem to do work, to perform her responsibilities, to function on a basic level. She felt like a failure of an adult.
When Caitlyn arrives home, she’ll find the clothes in the laundry room where they were left this morning, the same dirty dishes still stacked in the sink, and a very understimulated Vi on the couch, hands over her face, leg bouncing. Like she was trying to block her thoughts out from the world.
Vi only grimaced when she peeked through her fingers to see Caitlyn standing in front of her. God, how was she to explain being a defect?
“I know, Cupcake. I know” She sounded resigned, “I didn’t do anything I said I would. I’m being useless today”
After all, isn’t that what Vi was?
