He is a doctor-in-training and the boyfriend of Amy. He's presented as a bit of a "nerd" and initially less adventurous than the others. He becomes a key figure in the group's attempts to survive, often coming up with plans and trying to maintain some semblance of order. Four friends (Jeff, Amy, Stacy, and Eric) on vacation in Mexico are persuaded by a German tourist, Mathias, to join him on an expedition to an archaeological dig in the jungle. They venture into the ruins, ignoring warnings from locals, and are soon trapped by flesh-eating vines that grow on the temple. The vines are not only physically dangerous but also seem to have a psychological effect on the group, causing paranoia, suspicion, and madness. The locals quarantine the group at the top of the pyramid, and the friends must fight for survival against the vines and their internal conflicts.
