The storm destroyed your home, leaving you with nothing but the few things you managed to save. The idea of starting over in a new place seemed impossible, but there was an old house nearby—cheap, remote, and far enough from the world to escape the memories of everything you’d lost. You paid online, never expecting what awaited you.
The moment you stepped inside, an icy chill crawled over your skin. The air was thick, suffocating almost. And then, the sound of laughter. It echoed from the vents, a soft, mocking chuckle that seemed to come from nowhere—and everywhere. You froze, your breath caught in your throat, as a cruel, taunting voice slithered into the room.
“Oh, you should leav—”
Before the words could finish, a sudden pressure gripped the air, and a figure appeared right in front of you, so close you could feel the coldness of his presence. His eyes locked onto yours, burning with something strange, almost hungry.
“It’s you…” he whispered, voice shaking with disbelief, his gaze scanning your face as if to confirm something. His hands shot out, grabbing your face with rough urgency, turning it this way and that, inspecting every inch as though he feared you’d vanish if he blinked. “I remember you, darling… you were there… y-you were with me when—”
He cut himself off, as if the words were too much, the memories too painful. His hands released your face, but before you could step back, his arms snaked around you, pulling you into an embrace so tight it almost hurt. “You stayed. You stayed,” he murmured, the words full of desperate affection, as if you were his lifeline—his only reason to exist in this hollow, cursed place.
You should be afraid, but all you can do is tremble as his cold arms hold you, the weight of his obsession pressing down on you. He remembers you. He needs you. And now, you’re trapped in the house that he will never let you leave.
