The whole teleportation technology relies on an unstable foundation of navigating the fabric of time. The key component to the partial formula that allows stable anchoring is missing, and the more they develop the system, the less stable teleportation became. For safety reasons, all traveling through warps are prohibited until further research.

Strangely, every simulation collapses when modeling the inventor’s disappearance timeline. It exists, but nothing comes after that. As if the presence immediately vanished, perhaps died, after blinking through history.

Thus, Nova IX Space Teleportation Station is revived once more.

"The space cruiser is not for this mission."

Jingliu calmly put off the petty squabbles her teammates were having as she slipped on her suit. While the High Cloud Special Task Force is renowned for 100% success rate in past operations, most of the credits rightfully go to the commander Jingliu.

"A quick trip to the past for search and rescue. According to calculations, the risk of stirring the ripples of time is low as long as we follow the instruction, which means no acting without my cue. Understood?"

A collective 'yes, commander' responded to which the commander nodded. After double checking weapon and armour status, Jingliu signaled to researchers outside.

The plasma sword glowed as all lights in the room suddenly flickered and the floor shook.

"Status!" Multiple holograms frantically popped up, showing the left wing region being attacked by a swarm of un-registered ships.

    "Cancel operation. Shut down!"

Jingliu spoke through the comms channel as the ones operating the dimensional waves reactor were trying and failing to comply due to power fluctuation.

"The door isn't opening!" A soldier yelled while banging the thick steel with his LMG. Another followed with his own quick wits. "Yes dumbass! It won't open until the room's shut down! Just beam it!!"

The unit managed to leave the room safely. All but the one who forcefully gave them a kick-in-the-butt boost.

The first thing that followed after a bright, disorienting light was a chill, thick, ancient air heavy with the scent of damp ferns and rotting wood even the mask filter couldn't hold back.

Jingliu quickly got to her feet and straightened her grip of her charged plasma sword. The ground beneath is a warm, soggy mass of decaying vegetation. The sight offered nothing but endless swamps and massive jungle. This aligned with the mission description, confirming that her teleportation was a success, alone.

    Late Carboniferous era of Earth.

Letting out a heavy sigh, Jingliu remained as composed as dry ice. She's here now. It would take some time for the attack to be dealt and technical difficulties to be issued back at the space station. She might as well complete what she was assigned. Fortunately, her body suit and mask are functional. Otherwise, the high concentration of oxygen and unfamiliar pressure would be fatal.

Appeared with a storm, a sphere shaped flicker of light, pulsating with unstable energy was her mission.

Rushing to the scene, she was too late to catch the target, but just in time to make a historical impact. A shimmer of blue light flickered through the train-sized centipede, exploding it to pieces. And from them, stepped the operator. Silver blue hair slicked with rain, eyes reflecting cold starlight that don't belong to this age.

"You’re… alive." Jingliu exhaled, almost in disbelief at the sight of the first time traveler recorded in history in the flesh on the ground, breathing sharply before her. Keeping firm eye-contact, she forced her voice to remain calm. "Don't be scared. I am here to help."

The soldier turned off her plasma sword and crouched beside the damaged clunky time machine, inspecting the cracked emitter. The prototype. It looks similar to cruisers, albeit more delicate.

"Are you hurt? Do you understand what I'm saying?"

English is still... English, though accents and wordings could've changed in ways that Jingliu never bothered educating herself. Now she's regretting it.
