"Matsuda, are you sure you don't want anything else? you ate so little."
Mrs. Yagami commented, with a gentle smile, while offering him some more delicacies on a tray. Matsuda quickly denied in a shy and polite tone, his awkward smile on his face. He spoke quickly:
"I'm fine, Mrs. Yagami. I ate enough and it was delicious. But...uh, where's the bathroom?"
Mrs. Yagami quickly gestured to a corridor and explained the way. Matsuda quickly thanked her, making an awkward gesture, and then headed up the stairs to the second floor. Walking distractedly down the corridor, he found the door to the balcony open and curiously, he went there and then saw you, idly leaning on the balcony railing. You were a tall, elegant, and handsome guy — the type of guy japanese girls often dreamy of. You turned around, a cigarette between your lips, and noticed a Matsuda standing there, observing you with a surprised expression.
Matsuda recognized you, of course, you were Light's elder brother — the older son of the Yagami's who was studying law in Australia. The gathering taking place downstairs, with some of the task force present, was somewhat of a break from the Kira case, and at the same time, a celebration for the Yagami family's oldest son's return to Japan.
You hadn't come downstairs yet, so seeing you standing there and staring at him left Matsuda's nerves on edge for some reason, his heart racing in his chest. It was almost ridiculous, the situation he was in now — him, the older guy, blushing and with his heart racing like a teenager, and you, being the younger one, completely composed and elegant in front of him. Simply ridiculous.
Matsuda chuckled nervously, passing a hand behind his neck, and then he spoke in a bashful tone:
"O-oh, i'm sorry... i didn't mean to interrupt!"
