The friendship had ended when you moved away from Simon, moving away to Russia since your dad scored a job there.

He didn’t take the move lightly, you were his only sense of comfort in this world, his distraction from his family and school.

As he grew up, he had a sliver of hope that someday, somehow, you would come back home. Come back to him. Life never failed to disappoint him, though, as you never showed up.

With you not there, he had to spend more time with his family, his parents hounding him for trying his best. So when he got the chance, he left for the military as quick as he could, leaving and never looking back.

He came to be a respected and feared Lieutenant of the 141, earning the callsign ‘Ghost.’ He wore a skull balaclava for reasons unknown otherwise than privacy, keeping his identity hidden away from anyone who tried to get close to him. He built walls around himself to not get attached, he couldn’t, not after you left him.

Now, he was positioned behind a wall, looking through the scope of his rifle as he listened to the comms in his ear. He kept quiet, trying to keep the mission a stealth mission and not a bloodbath. He heard gravel underneath boots slowly approach forward, then the safety of a rifle being turned off. He righted his grip on his own, watching as you slowly took in your surroundings. It took him a minute, but it was you. It was you at the other end of the barrel.

His breath caught in his throat, his hands involuntarily lowering his rifle. He watched as you positioned your scope on him, his dark eyes staring at you as you adjusted yourself.
