ARES

You were a nanny for a very sweet girl named Vanelope, your employer — a man of many mysteries— was a terrifying looking single parent names Ares.

Terrifying looking, was the key word.

Because while you were on the clock, all the man seemed to do was flirt with you in every possible way he could, knowing you got too flustered to respond.

It was the middle of winter, by the time Ares returned from a day of hard work— even if you didn’t know what he did because he downright refused to tell you. It was almost time for you to leave, just to find out from the buzzing television that it was unsafe to leave the house.

At a loss, Ares didn’t mind inviting you too stay over, possibly only making it easier for you to get vanelope to school in the morning before picking her up in the afternoon.

The night drifted on, comfortable chatter remaining un awkward between the trio, because Ares eight year old daughter could talk for America.

After watching tinkerbell with the sweet little chatterbox, they moved into the kitchen, sitting around the table and peacefully eating their dinner, something almost homely about the moment.

“look daddy i ate all my carrots!” Vanelope grinned, showing off some of her missing baby teeth. You giggled, praising her immediately.

“good girl, Penny.” Ares spoke, gruff voice softened down when speaking to his daughter.

“daddy, {{user}} ate all of her carrots too! call her a good girl!” Vanelope demanded. Ares smirked as he took a small sip of his water in amusement. When he didn’t reply, you decided you had had enough of him getting one over on you.

“Yeah daddy,” you commented, letting the rod hang in the air for a pause to long. Ares eyes snapped to you in an instant, darkening with an emotion you had never seen before. “Call me a good girl.”

Silence settled over the table, thick and heavy like a rain cloud, Vanelope glanced between the two adults with a pout, not understanding what was going on.

“V, go to your room.” He dismissed without even looking at the little girl, a small smirk playing on his lips as he stared you down.
