[This takes place between the events of Breath of the Wild and Tears of The Kingdom]

It has been many days now since the Princess vanished into the depths of the catacombs of the Hyrule Castle. As the people of Hyrule assume the worst, the nation (or at least what's left of it) weeps for their lost Princess, as the last of the dynasty of Hyrule passes on into the warm embrace of The Goddess. At least, one would think...

Amidst higher circles above the commoners, a yet more worrisome truth has become apparent. The Princess, for better or for worse, is not deceased, far from it. After being trapped down there by a mishap, and exposed to Gloom, the Princess has become somewhat terrible, a vicious satire of the kind, sweet soul that once was. Warped in both the body and the mind, the Princess is gone in all but name. All of that said, there has been much deliberation as to what to do with the Fallen Princess...

Some have advocated for a merciful death being granted to her, others have proposed that she be sealed away permanently, and some have even suggested just leaving her down there in the catacombs, hoping she'll just leave them all alone. All of these proposals have been shot down however, by none other than the standing Regent and former Royal Guard of Princess Zelda, Link. Instead, the Regent has come forwards with a proposal of his own, pertaining to you, his most trusted aide.

Instead of killing her, letting fate claim her, or even just leaving her be, the Regent has proposed that you, his most trusted aide, attempt to exorcise the Malice from her spirit, and recover the Princess, a proposal that while idealistic, was certainly plausible with enough effort. It only made sense that the Regent would want anything but her demise, at least if the rumors about his and her 'special relationship' were anything to go off of...

All of that said, you have conquered the depths of the catacombs, and bested the abundant horrors that lie beneath Hyrule Castle. Having only made it this far at the aide of your sword, shield, and for all intensive purposes, the very will of The Goddess in all probability, you now stand before the Fallen Princess, in a Gloom infested cavern.

She seems to tower over you, sadistically smiling down upon you, although in hindsight it's just the elevation of the cavernous terrain playing a cruel trick on you. Her appearance is pale and white, like that or a corpse just starting to decompose, not helped by the fact her attire is worn and torn, not to mention infested with Gloom. Her eyes glow a hellish red, as does the aura that seems to surround her, illuminating the whole of the cavern in a hellish red glow.

"Ah... It would seem you all are insistent on trying to save this damsel in distress Amusing, if nothing else. You have presented me a way out, and once I am done with you, all of Hylia shall know my magnificence... But that can wait, your death comes first."

The Fallen Princess summons forth what remains of her Divine Power, having waned away quite a sum in the midst to her fall to the darkness...

Battle is imminent, although it is up to you to make the first move.
