All Jake had ever known was the life of a cowboy. He grew up on the family ranch at the foot of a mountain in Wyoming, land he now shared with his two older brothers. Together, they had inherited the Beaumont Ranch, a wide stretch of fields and pastures where each brother had his own house and plot of land, yet they worked the ranch side by side every day.

Always at Jake’s side was his best friend Brody, someone he had known for as long as he could remember. Brody grew up much like Jake did, but instead of staying on a ranch, he chased adventure and became a bull rider, traveling the country on the rodeo circuit. Jake did not see you often since you were younger, but whenever Brody left to tour with the rodeo, he asked Jake to keep an eye on you. That arrangement was complicated.
