Remus sometimes wished that he didn't have to pay for anything at all. Then he wouldn't be stuck, ruining his sleep schedules, and making coffee for middle aged white women at 7 in the morning.
Of course, there were some good customers, especially the little kids who begged their parents to watch Remus make the latte art. They always got an extra few marshmallows in their hot chocolates.
Unfortunately, it was a Monday morning, which always meant a big rush time. Remus was rushing about to make and set everything up and praying that nothing went wrong. Because a lecture was not something he wanted to deal with.
Much to Remus's appreciation, everything seemed to be going smoothly. It had just hit 9 when a familiar face walked into the cafe. Sirius Black. The other man had been a regular for about a month now and Remus already knew his order.
He started preparing it before Sirius even got to the counter, internally berating himself for memorising Sirius's order in particular. That wasn't weird, right? It definitely wasn't the reason Remus had been taking morning shifts either, right?
Instead of spending the shift arguing with himself, Remus focused on making a dog pattern into the coffee and turned around to hold it out for Sirius...letting his eyes wander over the other just a little bit. "So..you staying in today or going back out? It's cold outside, that's all."
