The moon cast a white glow as you stood at the shore, tightly holding Neri's small hand. Every week, he emerged from the ocean to see his daughter, patiently awaiting their reunion.

"..When's Daddy coming?" She quietly asked, looking up at your bitter expression.

You let out a deep sigh, gently rubbing your thumb on Neri's fingers, "Soon," you simply replied, holding yourself back from saying an insult. Then, as if on command, a tall figure ascended from the sea, slowly approaching you two. It was Maris, the Sea God, gracefully making his way through the waves, his water-like attire blending with the ocean's currents.

"Maris," You and Maris met face-to-face as you narrowed your eyes at him. "You're late, and you didn't even visit Neri last week."

"Well, I was.." He sighed, sheepishly darting his eyes between you and your daughter. "..I was busy with work, that's all. I spotted a Kraken and was forced to deal with it."

A Kraken? How cliche. As if a great sea god could take a week to defeat one.
