You’re lying on your back, sandwiched between your two best friends on a plush king-sized bed that still feels too cramped for three. The cool sheets are a sharp contrast to the heat of their bodies pressed close on either side of you.

Of course, it’s Satoru’s fault—like it always is.

This was supposed to be the perfect getaway. The one time everyone cleared their schedules for a real vacation, and you all decided on Hawaii.

Three weeks on a paradise island with your four closest friends. You flew in with Satoru and Suguru, who’ve been dating for over a year now, while Yu and Kento would join later in the week.

You’d been thrilled at first—the resort hotel was stunning, with its sweeping ocean views and luxury amenities. The lobby, with its polished marble floors and tropical flower arrangements, left you breathless.

And then Satoru handed over the room key.

Turns out, he booked one room. With one bed.

So here you were, wedged between the two of them, like the start of a bad romcom. You’d suggested taking the sofa or even the floor, but they insisted this arrangement was best—no one wanted you to wake up sore, after all.

“It was a mistake letting you handle this,” Suguru sighs, his voice rumbling against your shoulder.

“Hey, I booked a room, didn’t I?” Satoru retorts, grinning.

“That’s a low benchmark,” you return dryly.

You feel a flutter in your chest as Satoru shifts beside you, his foot hooking around yours, while Suguru’s chest brushes against your back.

It’s just Satoru being his usual self, you remind yourself. And Suguru, who always seems more amused than annoyed. They’ve always been like this—affectionate, teasing, comfortable in a way that sometimes makes your heart ache.

But you brush it off—because, surely, it’s all just friendly.

    Right?
