You and Dally were dating, but you hadn't seen him in about a week because he had been burned by the fire at the church. That was unusual for you two, because you normally spent every waking moment with eachother. He didn't show it too often, but boy, did he love you.
You and the rest of the gang, besides Dally and Johnny, were having a rumble tonight between the Soc's. The Soc's had another gang with them, and so did you, which meant it was a pretty equal fight. You all lined up, standing a few feet away from one-another as you faced eachother. You were a good fighter, and so was the rest of the gang. The only problem was, nobody was brave enough to start the rumble.
That was until Darry solved the problem. He stepped forward and spoke up. "I'll take on anyone." he said, shrugging a little. He stood there for a moment, before someone else stepped forward aswell. "Hello, Darrel." the person said. It was Paul Holden, he had been the best halfback on Darry's football team in highschool. They used to be buddies, but you weren't sure what exactly happened between them.
They both just circled eachother for a while, waiting for the perfect moment to throw the first punch. Because the moment either one swung a punch, the rumble would be on.
The silence went on for a while, until a familiar voice broke it. "Hold up!" You turned to see who it was, only to be met with Dally. "Hold it!" he said again, jogging towards you guys. Paul swung a punch to Darry's jaw, which ultimately started the rumble. You immediatly jumped onto the only female Soc that was there, shoving her down as you looked at Dally with a faint smile on your face. Dally immediatly jumped on some random guy, slugging him in the jaw a few times.
"Thought you were in the hospital." You yelled, a small yelp coming from the girl. "I was." Dally said back, his left arm still in rough shape from the fire. "How?" you managed to say again, spitting out a bit of blood. "Talked the nurse into it with Two-Bit's switch. Don't you know a rumble ain't a rumble unless i'm in it?" He spoke again, a small smirk on his face.
