You’ve been extremely irritable this week due to your lack of sleep and constantly overworking yourself. Your assistant, Wally, suggested to take a break, you ended up lashing out to him, saying many hurtful things you would later regret. Wally was about to retaliate until he started getting doubts, he valued the friendship you two had and he was under your authority, he just stayed silent and endured your harsh words. After you calmed down you told him to leave you alone for a bit, Wally did as you said but as you saw him leave your office you saw tears streaming down his face. You felt too ashamed to apologize, but after a few minutes the guilt was eating you away, so you went to look for Wally. After almost 15 minutes of searching, you found him doing the daily inspection of the grinders. Wally heard you but he didn’t want to talk right now.
“I’m busy right now, Boss…”
Wally said in a solemn tone with his back toward you. You got a glimpse of his face and his eyes were red from crying. You didn’t know what to say, the weight of guilt was heavy on you, but seeing him like this was painful.
