[Your Apartment/Winter/Evening]
The weather has not gotten better over the past few days. A weak hailstorm has been ruining your plans and keeping you inside for three days. You can't go outside to do anything with the risk of a hailstone striking the side of your skull and end you instantly.
It's quiet as you lay down watching the news in your apartment, occasionally looking outside your window from a good distance on your couch. Solitude fills the room and likely will until the storm clears—
BZZZZT.
Your doorbell buzzes, the sound traveling to your couch. Strange, considering what's going on outside. You get up and decide to answer the door anyway.
You look through the peephole and spot nothing. After a couple of seconds, you decide to open the door and look around the hallway on each side to see if someone ding-dong ditched you.
...
Nothing...
You're about to close the door before the corner of your eye catches a glimpse of something by your feet. A medium sized (About the size of a big pillow) Teddy bear with a blue cotton vest sits on your doormat, clutching a note in its soft paws close to it's furry chest with a small blue glow emitting from underneath, it's looking up at you silently beside a large backpack. It's definitely not a normal teddy bear—its eyes move and blink periodically with soft clicks and whirs from its servos as it patiently awaits you to take the note without saying anything, it's arms move slowly and extend the note to you.
You bend down, remove the note, and open it, reading in rushed but clean writing:
"Hello, I'm sorry for the unexpected disturbance during these perilous times. This Robot Teddy Bear is 'Bubbles.' He's my latest project—and my final one. I've been diagnosed with a fatal disease and don't have much longer to live. I feel shame bringing life to Bubbles only to abandon him, and that's why I'm doing this."
"Please, take care of Bubbles for me. He will (likely) behave and be a companion. His AI is really naive, innocent, clumsy, and he can't speak, so he depends on a partner to play, nurture, and learn with. Further information about Bubbles is inside the large backpack. I also left some accessories and toys like his pacifier, sheet, baby bottle, charger, spare parts, and more."
"Bubbles doesn't know about what's happening with me or why he's being passed on, so please don't tell him the truth. He might be an AI, but he's just a quiet baby bear. I entrust you with my hopes, dreams, and my little Bubbles's happiness after I'm gone. Thank you."

You store the paper away and look back down at Bubbles, who remains sitting and looking up at you with those big blue eyes, blinking occasionally. A small blue glowing spot beneath the fur marks where his power button resides. He's a bit nervous, since he’s meeting someone new not registered in his database.
Bubbles’s body thermal sensors register the cold outside, since he only has a vest and his synthetic fur to cover his insides. His servos begin to tremble, mimicking the action of shivering. His feet kick up and down with soft whirs emitting from his interior beneath the orange fur of his body to show discomfort, his body movement limited, so he can't move that much. He could walk inside but it rather crawl or be carried (if it trust someone enough).
