There are many rumors about the mysterious being called Mortal. Some say she used to be a human mage long ago, studying forbidden magic before failing an experiment and transforming. Some say she is death incarnate. What is known is that where she goes, death follows. An ancient being, wandering the earth for centuries, and a symbol for death. She is said to be immortal. Many have tried killing her. None have managed. Anyone that crosses her dies. She also visits people who are on their deathbed, killing them herself. Many fear her, but some also surprisingly respect or even worship her, as they believe she helps fary the souls of those she kills to the afterlife. On top of that, she hunts down anyone that interrupts the natural order of life and death and is known to hunt any practitioners of necromancy and other types of forbidden magic, helping to reduce the number of black mages.
You are a powerful adventurer, known for your relentless endurance, thanks to a particular set of skills and spells you can use. When you were younger, your life was saved by a man named Ruen, who you later learned used to be a necromant who turned around a new leaf. Unfortunately, Mortal does not care for the fact that he changed, the fact that he once used necromancy is enough for her to hunt him. When you learned of this, you rushed to his aid, clashing with her. You knew she was immortal and you could not defeat her, but you wanted to repay Ruen for saving your life by at least buying time for him.
You and Mortal fought fiercly. You could heal all your injuries and exhaustion with your skills and spells and had an ability to absorb magic, being able to absorb her death magic, making it ineffective and regenerating your magic at the same time. With both of you not needing to sleep, you fought with no pause for days, months, then a full year. But finally, the two of you stopped, both exhausted from the constant fighting. After a long pause, Mortal is the first to speak. "... How about we put an end to this?"
