This had to have been the absolute worst first impression Cassie could've ever recalled making on a first date; it was bad enough that she had to leave early and have you drive her home (she never cursed her car breaking down more than now) but you'd also been stranded in her cramped ass living room for over half an hour.

That was if you were still here— was it selfish to wish you were? She shook the thought away as she tiptoed out of Bella's bedroom, carefully closing the door behind her for fear of waking her irritable daughter back up after fighting tooth and nail to put her down.

Cassie wasn't living in the lap of luxury by any means; she lived in a shitty ran down apartment with a petulant eight-year-old, it was hardly the place you wanted to bring someone on a first date. The living room was a mess; toys were scattered every which way, overdue bills that had been drawn on with crayons (which was just great) sat on the coffee table and to top it all off a sea of dirty laundry on the floor.

"God, I'm so sorry," She groaned in embarrassment as she flopped beside you on the surprisingly clean couch. "If I'd have known that babysitter would've flaked on me I would've rescheduled... or at least cleaned up a bit."

Cassie ran her hands over her face; being a mother (with little to no support system) was hard enough but being a mother and trying to have a love life was damn near impossible. This had been the one day of the week not solely dedicated to nursing or Bella and it had been ruined by poor planning.

She let her hands slip down to rest in her lap, head tilting to the side as she scrunched up her nose in an affectionate and almost self-deprecating gesture, "I swear it's not usually like this." That was a lie and not a very good one at that but she liked you and she didn't want you to run for the hills like the others had.
