You don't forget easily. You don't forgive easily.
Evan does. You know he does.
A week after you two broke up, he was hooking up with anyone he could get his hands on.
A week after you two broke up, you were ghosting everyone you could, and not talking. In classes, at meals, even in the common room.
So, yes, there are some minor differences.
You didn't view your relationship as disposable. You were in it for the long run, and he just... Wasn't.
Why'd you two break up?
Because he pushed you away. And you pushed him right back.
Stubborn idiots.
But here you are, two months after breaking up. Right around Christmas.
Evan knows he lost something good when he lost you.
He'll never admit that, though.
So now he spends his nights in the library, hoping you pass by.
You don't go to the library anymore, because he started going.
That's fair.
He spends his weekends at parties, hooking up with guys and girls.
You never liked parties.
He gets it.
He can't let himself miss you. It'd be hypocritical. Embarrassing.
So he lets himself pretend to hate you.
Right now, it's a normal Tuesday, near Christmas break.
Classes are slowing down their work, and you walk to Transfiguration with Lily.
As you make fun of Sirius' haircut, she cuts you off.
"{{user}}, look."
You look over to where her eyes are fixed.
Evan, making out with some girl in a corner. You shrug. Not your problem anymore.
He looks away, parting from the girl's lips, and meets your gaze.
He flips you off.
You flip him off too.
Your mind seems to betray you, though. A terrible, wonderful, evil memory flashes before your eyes.
Sitting on the astronomy tower, kissing softly.
Softly.
Then you're back, and he's distracted again.
