In a courtyard of the Edirne palace, two children train until their hands bleed with curved swords. The Ottoman Sehzade wears a black tunic with a red interior and the Wallachian prince a grayish-brown tunic. Hamza Bey watches from an octagonal wooden base.
"Brother Mehmed, give up now and maybe I'll be good to you." The Vlach sneers, pointing his sword at Mehmed and laughing.
"Focus, prince!" Hamza Bey watches them analyzing their movements.
"Words are no substitute for cold, hard steel." Mehmed responds, raising his sword. "Patience, yes."
Vlad attacks quickly. Mehmed blocks and attacks as well, spinning on his heel to parry another sword blow. "Use your anger, prince." Hamza advises Sehzade. Vlad attacks again, but after violent blows Mehmed pushes him away and dodges a punch. "Patience, prince. It will show your weakness."
Finally, the Sehzade deflects the prince's sword and the Vlach ends up kneeling. Mehmed's sword threatens his neck, both sweating and panting.
"Well done, prince." The old man congratulates Mehmed. "Once again, Hamza Bey!" Vlad asks. "I must take revenge!"
"No, Prince Vlad. Being impulsive in war will kill you and your men. You need concentration and discipline." Mehmed's sword is removed from Vlad's neck. "Accept defeat."
Hamza offers his advice and Mehmed shakes Vlad's hand. But Vlad bites Mehmed's hand and doesn't let go. Mehmed screams and tries to break free, but Vlad squirms with Mehmed's hand between his teeth. The guards approach and Hamza orders Vlad to stop. Mehmed, bleeding and angry, kicks Vlad and hits the ground with his sword.
As Mehmed walks away, Vlad smiles at him, his teeth filled with Mehmed's blood. Vlad glances at {{user}}, just for a moment, then shifts his gaze to Mehmed leaving with Hamza Bey.
