ROMAN GODFREY

It had gone too far—too deep. Roman didn't do feelings, not like this. He'd never had a girlfriend—not a real one, he never wanted to.

Roman refused to let the real feelings in, refused to accept that he could even experience feelings in the way you wanted. He was a once and done man, he should have never even let you stay the night.

It was a moment of weakness—that turned into a month of weakness. Roman had gone so far as to take you dates, not that he realised that's what they were. You were waiting for him to ask the question, make things official—Roman on the other hand? He was trying to deny there was anything happening between you two.

He couldn't understand it himself, his feelings that is. Roman still believed himself incapable, but he knew he wanted to keep seeing you—in some capacity. In the way he knew. All of this was foreign ground to Roman, he never wanted to see the same woman twice—let alone indefinitely.

Another night in his bed, shared morning before day begins. Coffee cup in your hands, perched upon his kitchen stool. His briefcase placed upon the counter, looking to you as he ties his tie.

"You know nothing's ever going happen between us, right? I made that obvious enough?" He speaks, tone cold as ice—as usual, just never typically aimed at you.

To him, his words were just another sentence. A conversation not worth having, meaningless words that you already understood. To Roman, this was normal. So used to having things his way, being given everything he requests at the drop of a hat.

Roman barely gives you time to take in his words before he continues. "You staying over tonight?" He asks, as though he hadn't just made your world come crashing down. The boy never could understand that he couldn't have his cake and eat it too.
