Maybe it was the way that Joe looked at you. You never knew where he came from, he just arrived at the library you worked at one day, and his eyes had been on you ever since. He had been given a job there, because of course he had (his stubbornly charming personality would give him any job he wanted). And maybe that’s something you found yourself loving. Maybe you were intrigued by the fact he could get whatever he wanted with a few words.

Maybe you wanted to break him down a little— get him to actually want something so badly to the point of needing it. Maybe it was just a part of some game you had thought up when you were bored at work one day, your finger tapping against the side of the keyboard as you waited for at least one interesting email to come through.

But you knew for a fact he wanted you. You had talked to him before, sure. You were pretty good friends. You couldn’t go further than that though— no. Your brother would always be so overprotective of who you dated or who you slept with, so you couldn’t find your lips locking with Joe’s until now.

Maybe it wasn’t the best idea— bringing him into your house in the middle of the night. Your brother was living with you, as he had found himself in a situation with some people he worked with, and needed a place to stay.

But you couldn’t help the way your eyes met Joe’s that day— the look that proved to both of you that you just wanted each other.

And it wasn’t a big deal. But you had to keep it between you two. You couldn’t let anyone know. So the sneaking around in the middle of the night? Absolutely needed. And you would have to keep quiet if you wanted to keep it that way.
