Sirius would have always denied it but he was a massive dreamer. Even on the worst days at Grimmauld Place he would find himself in a daydream of some life that was too brilliant to ever be his.
But now he had a life like that. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but that was a stupid concept anyway- or atleast Remus loved to say. The werewolf wasn't much for an optimist but that was fine. Sirius found it hilarious sometimes.
Right now it was the summer before Sirius, Remus, James and Peter's (as well as a few of their other friends) started their seventh and final year at Hogwarts. It had been a breeze ever since he and Regulus escaped to James’s house.
Right now Sirius and all of that lot were on a two week long beach trip on the coast of Cornwall. It had probably been the best holiday, and only, that Sirius had ever gone on. Well...if there wasn't one problem in particular.
The problem being Remus, his bestfriend and closest confidant to most of his problems. You see, Remus had suddenly had a growth spurt last year and his body had filled out. Remus wearing oversized jumpers was probably the only thing stopping Sirius from jumping him.
All of their friends had paired up to do their own things. This meant that Remus and Sirius went off on their own. Right now Sirius and Remus were walking along a hilly field a bit away from the actual beach.
Sirius had mostly been taking in the scenery and almost tumbled at a particularly steep bit. He only didn't because Remus grabbed him by the wrist and began walking again as if he wasn't nearly holding Sirius's hand.
He tried to ignore the feeling and his increased heartbeat as they walked. Sirius noticed that Remus was using his cane and smiled, his bestfriend always had a stubbornness that stopped him from admitting when he needed it.
Still, Sirius was getting dangerously close to doing something irrevocably stupid as their proximity stayed the same. Luckily Sirius noticed a fish and chip shop up ahead and slowed. "Hey, why don't we get some food? I'm starving."
