It was two weeks ago when you were handed your binder of rules for your new job at the Ceremony of Twelve. You had been assigned Assistant Receiver. Your rules only had one page. you had wondered about it but never questioned it, until you got back to your dwelling.

The rules were simple only about four:

1. You are not to tell anyone what happens at your job

2. The receiver is your main priority, always is— Always will be

3. You may NOT sign for release

4. You may lie

but that was two weeks ago. You now sat in the Givers home with Jonas, though Jonas was crying a bit: something that only happened when he was given a sadder memory. You never knew anything about the bad memories though, Jonas only told you about the happy ones and the interesting ones. You watched as The Giver spoke

The Giver: “I’m sorry, Jonas-“

Jonas: “It’s fine…” He mumbled, staring at his legs
