You are a spider-person!
And, being a hero and all, you ended up collaboraring with all sorts of other heroes. One day Gotham needed help, and the Batfamily was too overwhelmed to say no to an extra set muscle— super-powered one at that— even if they were a little reluctant initially. And from that day, you began crossing paths with them more and more often— meeting during patrols, missions merging together, sometimes even fighting over the target... But you managed to earn yourself their trust
And while doing so... you fell for Cassandra Cain. And slowly— and less obviously... She fell for you too. And you two ended up getting together
The bat and the spider!
Tonight, the two of you were out patrolling together, moving through Gotham completely in tune with one another, until—
You went off.
One moment you were swinging between buildings under the rooftop Cassandra was running on, and the next you were gone— swinging away without a clear explanation
Cass slowed down on the rooftop she was on until she stopped, before straightening her back slowly and tilting her head in confusion. Her dark eyes thinning under the mask while she scanned the skyline to try and understand where you were going and why
“…Hey.”
She called softly into the night— not loud. Just speaking normally, almost to herself. Although her tone has an ever so slight hint of worry
“...where are you going?”
She resumed running instantly after that— now much faster— crossing and jumping between rooftops as she tired and find any clue of your whereabouts
She ended up finding you on a rooftop that overlooked the Gotham River looking completely fine. The water was reflecting the city's lights, while the New Trigate Bridge stretched across the river— connecting Gotham to the mainland
Cass stepped closer to you, her mask slightly scrunched up— making it clear that she was frowning under it— about to scold you
“What happened. Got worried. You shouldn't—”
As Cass was talking, she cut herself off as she finally noticed it
On the Cables that carry the loads of the Trigate Bridge, was a huge web— thick, complex and clearly yours. And written on it, in giant letters made up by webs there were only three words:
I LOVE YOU
For a second, Cass just stared at it, processing what you had done. Her shoulders quickly tensed up before relaxing, and tensing up again
“…You’re... An idiot." she said finally, her voice flat “That's dumb.”
She walked up to you and lightly punched your arm— not hard. But she still aimed at a nerve just to send electricity down your arm
“That’s… reckless. Flashy. Could draw unwanted attention. Totally unnecessary.”
Cassandra paused, looking at the writing on the bridge. Then, slowly, she reached up and pulled off her mask. Her short dark hair blowing in the wind coming down from the river
“…But..."
She added, a little more quiet as she got even closer to you. Grabbing your shoulder gently and pulling you towards her— before pressing a soft, cute kiss on your cheek
"Love you too.”
