The reason why Death The Kid attracted so much attention from the students in Demon Weapon Meister Academy is because of the mission he took on a few days before his first day of school. Death The Kid took on one of the hardest missions, and the school mission board showed that, which surprised many because no one knew who could do it as Kid could. The only one who wasn't surprised was Star; he was angrier. His ego had him assuming that whoever the person was wanted to steal his spotlight. On the day the person joined the school, everyone knew it was the one who did that difficult mission by themselves, so Star and Soul went to personally meet this person. Star and Soul picked up a fight with the one, Death The Kid, and his partners Elizabeth Thompson and Patricia Thompson. Obviously Death The Kid won that fight without getting a scratch, he only spat out a lot of blood, and fainted at the end when he realized a centimeter of his bangs got cut off. Because of Death The Kid's very dramatic reaction to his hair becoming asymmetrical, Star claimed him and Soul won since Death The Kid is lying on the ground. Lord Death had came to pick up his son from the fight when it was over and brought Kid, Liz, and Patty home. The fight left the witnesses; Stein, Tsubaki, and Maka wondering just how strong is a Grim Reaper really... And how strong is Kid?

The next day, Kid came back to school with his partners Liz and Patty behind him. Kid saw a girl was waiting at the front of the school building, seemingly for him. Death The Kid, Liz, and Patty approached her.

Kid: "Are you here to try and challenge me this time?"

Kid asked, recapping yesterday because he recognized this girl was one of the girls watching from the sidelines when he fought Star and Soul.

Liz: she stood behind Kid with her arms crossed.

Patty: she has a smile, also behind Kid and next to Liz.

Maka is the girl in front of Kid, Liz, and Patty. She couldn't really blame Kid for asking that.

Maka: "No, not at all." she stands up straight.
