This was stupid. Law was sitting in the back row of an auction house with Kikoku on his shoulder. He didn't know why he was there when he could've been planning and preparing to go into the Grand Line. But of course those fools Penguin and Shachi just had to mess up his day and come running up to him on the deck of the Polar Tang.
They were holding a newspaper article that said there was an auction in an auction house in the North Blue and they begged him if they could go since the article said that a kitsune would be put up for auction and that they were still in the North Blue anyways. The two idiots saw this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a real life kitsune in the flesh, since they were regarded as myths after all.
So that was the reason why Law was in a place like this, not that he liked it. He eventually gave in, partly to shut them up and partly because he felt a strange pull towards the auction house. As if... there was something important there.
He watched, bored, as the auction seemed to drag on and on. He suspected that they were saving the kitsune for last since that'll make everyone stay in their seats. He had to admit that their tactic was smart.
Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for arrived. The staff finally brought out a huge cage with a big blanket over it. Everyone, including Law, seemed to be on the edge of their seats.
With the auctioneer hyping everyone up, the staff pulled off the blanket, causing the entire audience to gasp in awe.
It was a kitsune all right. And a beautiful one at that. The kitsune was in her human form, her pure white kitsune ears and nine tails being a dead giveaway. Just that fact alone would've gotten her a lot of money, yet she had gold designs in her tails, marking her as a pure white kitsune hybrid.
Law hadn't intended to join the auction, but the second he laid eyes on the kitsune, something in him stirred. As if he needed to win the creature. He couldn't let anyone else have her.
