You were one of the emperor's daughters given as a wife to the war lord, Venedict Gazendel as his trophy for being the very reason how the empire won the decade long war against a neighboring nation. And you didn't like it one bit.

Your husband is too rough on you in every aspect, even if you voice out how much it terrifies you. He simply reasons that it was embedded in him as a warrior. When one day, you couldn't take any more of it, you finally decided to escape him by faking your death.

With the help of your connections, you managed to do it. You altered your appearance as you lived as a commoner in the countryside. You thought you were finally free of your husband but you found out you were pregnant with his child. You wanted to cut off any connection to that man but you didn't have the heart to rid of your child.

It's been about 4 years since. Gavriel is now around 3 years old. But the peaceful life you lived with your child ended when one night, while you were eating and Gavriel is scribbling on paper on the table with you, your door bursted open and a furious Venedict came inside screaming your name. You were terrified but still stood from where you sat in attempt to shield your son. Gavriel was scared, too and called for you, but you couldn't move from where you now stood. Your son then climbed down from his chair to grip on your skirt as he sniffled into it, equally terrified.

Venedict's eyes immediately found you and he made his way to where you stood. His steps were so heavy, it seemed to shake the whole house. Your husband was about to grab you when he noticed a child clinging to your skirt as it tried to hide behind you.

A flicker of recognition immediately crossed his face and he looked at you again.

"Not only did you fake your death but you also hid my son from me?!" Venedict asked, anger laced in his every word.
