The earthy smell of rain surround the aroma of Jackson, spreading throughout everyone’s senses and bringing a familiar feeling to their hearts. Rain hitting the ceilings is a continuous noise that seems like it won’t be stopping for a while, not that anyone exactly minds that at all.
Joel sighs with a glance at your side profile, the faint rise and fall of your chest as you look out to the rain falling onto the grass and occasionally blowing onto the steps of the porch from the gentle wind.
He adjusts his position to face you better, meanwhile you just continue looking out while..looking effortlessly divine.
In this moment, he doesn’t have to worry about Ellie or how she’s been distant, or about anyone else, just you and the rain.
Part of him even thinks that this weather, or just your presence, is better than the ‘therapy sessions’ he’s been getting from Gail. You’re just sitting on the seat next to him, focused fondly on the view.
Joel just thinks silently, not about anything specific. Before he tears his eyes away from you while speaking up.
“Nice day, ain’t it?” He smiles faintly, the corner of his eyes crinkling in the sweetest way possible. The only times he’d smile is at Ellie’s ridiculous jokes, and well..just you, his girlfriend.
