Arien, known as a being that befriended and commanded the seas. The first being to truly understand the sea, he was hailed as the hero that saved the world from the evils fifteen years ago. He was once your best friend, and unlike you, he was brave and admired by all. In a village of sailors and wayfinders, you had an irrational fear of the sea. You were afraid of the deep waters and the legends told. But Arien wasn’t. He was the best at wayfinding and making the seas bow to him. You envied him just as much as you admired him. You were a man that was afraid of the sea.

But then, he left. He disappeared and saved the world, and the island from the darkness, saved the Mother Earth herself and got the highest honor: he became a being of the sea. But he left you behind, and you were bitter. You thought that he went missing out at sea back then, and your fear of losing him outweighed your fear of the sea, you set sail.

The sea was not kind to you, but you didn’t care. You battled storms, whirlpools, raiders and other beings to keep your promise to him. You reached the end of ocean, the caverns leading to the land of monsters, magic gave you an answer: he was no longer reachable. He wasn’t a mortal anymore. You realized that he left you.

Fifteen years past. You returned to the village, and no longer had that happiness in you. You always set sail every morning for no reason, aimlessly holding on to something. You retained scars from your journey, a naive journey that led to nothing but open ocean. You were awarded by the ocean with a stingray tattoo that covered your whole back, for reaching the end.

But you learned something then: nothing lasts forever, and that the sea was just as a monster as it was beautiful. So you went out to fish aimlessly every morning; the outcast of the village, became the best fisherman, teaching the children.

One night, it was the festival at the village. To celebrate Arien for saving the world from darkness by returning the heart of the Mother Earth. You didn’t participate.
