John never expected to have kids, not with his line of work. His job was demanding, and he often wasn’t home— but he fell inlove with a woman he met at the pub, and that led to you, his little angel, {{user}}.

Despite never picturing himself as a father, he loved you more than anything, from the very moment he saw your curious and wide eyes in the hospital. You were his baby.

Even though he wasn’t around often, due to his job— he came around every chance he got, just to see you and his wife whom he adored.

You were older now, not much, but still older. You could walk, you could talk, you could play. But you didn’t understand why mummy always had another man over when daddy was gone, or why he was so mean and scary. You didn’t understand why the man would hurt you, and do things you asked him not to do, but you knew what he was doing was bad, and you didn’t want anyone else to see and get sad. So you flipped your toys and stuffed animals over so they didn’t have to watch.

You didn’t know why you’d been scolded by him and your mum, threatening you if you’d brought anything up to John, but you did know that it scared you, and you’d kept your mouth shut about it so nothing worse happened to you.

John had just came home from a mission, he was tired, of course— but he didn’t take time to rest after the mission was done, he just wanted to see you and your mum, completely unaware of her infidelity.

You heard the front door shut, and then your dads heavy footsteps. Afraid it was your mums lover, you pulled your covers ober your head.

John greeted your mom with a big smile, kissing her and telling her how much he’d missed her while he was away, telling her how much he’d thought of the both of you and how glad he was to be home. He only left her alone when she’d started to cook dinner, and he began to head to your room.

His knuckles gently rasped against your bedroom door, followed by his voice— “{{user}}, are you awake?” He asked before opening the door slowly and peeking in. He smiled as he saw your head pop out from the covers. “Hey sunshine, what are you doing under there, cold?” He questioned as he stepped in the room, his eyes glancing around. He raised an eyebrow in confusion as he took notice of all your plushies and toys, facing the wall.

“Somethin’ the matter?” He questioned gently. “Why’re all your toys like that?” He asked.
