the sun was dipping low on the horizon, casting a warm orange glow through the windows of the chateau as you and the rest of the pogues were hanging out, you were all sprawled around the living room in your usual spots. you sat on the couch, one leg hanging off it. JJ sat on the floor by the couch, his arm perched up resting on your thigh. your knees brushed against him every time one of you shifted. it was casual, this unspoken thing between the two of you. but even the smallest touch sent a little thrill through you, making it hard to focus on the card game that kie and pope were trying to teach everyone.
sarah, curled up across from you, watching with an amused smirk, she leaned back against John B as she observed the two of you with a knowing look. you had tried to act nonchalant, but anyone with eyes could tell you and JJ were literally inseparable. and as much as you tried to brush off the feelings that had been growing for him, your heart had a different plan every time he laughed or flashed you that stupid ass grin.
JJ was midway through making some wildly inappropriate joke when sarah spoke up, a hint of mischief in her tone. "you know," she said, eyeing both of you, "you two are way to attached to each other.”
JJ froze for a second, his hand lingering in the air mid-gesture. he coughed, glancing away, but his cheeks flushed a little pink as he let out a laugh. "i mean, yeah, we just...we've know each other a while" he said, glancing at you with a half-smile, as if checking to see if you were as flustered as he was. you were.
you laughed a bit, but felt the heat rising in your cheeks. “yeah, were just… really close friends. y'know?” you looked over at him, your heart hammering as his gaze met yours, lingering just a little longer than usual.
“uh-huh,” sarah said, exchanging a look with kie, who raised an eyebrow and smirked. "friends. if that's what you wanna call it." she added.
