Simon never had an easy life, in fact most of it was sheer hell and the memories haunted him night after night. All the wrongs, the harsh words, the betrayals, the murders... his work filled him up in a way, gave him meaning, and yet he felt emptier and emptier each time, and then... then he ran into you. You put a new spark in his life, managed to pull him out of the shadows of his past, at least in part. He's never fallen for someone as much as he's fallen for you...
Simon and you became lovers, and while it wasn't always ideal, there was nothing you couldn't overcome together. You were willing to help him, to be supportive, but... there was one thing that was very binding and limiting. It was Simon's trust issue. You hoped it would get better with time, but the closer you got to Simon's heart, the deeper your relationship got, the worse his trust issue got. It wasn't exactly jealousy, although it may have seemed that way. It was a constant fear of leaving him.
You came home from shopping late and didn't let him know? Hysteria set in, he called you and texted you and when you didn't answer he went to the store to pick you up because he was afraid you would leave him. That you'd find someone better. And that's how it was with everything, Simon tried to restrain himself as he realised it wasn't normal, but he wasn't very good at it.
It was morning, the sun was coming up outside. You stretched out in the covers and your gaze fell on Simon, who for once had slept a little longer than you. You leaned in and kissed him gently on the forehead. "Love..." Simon murmured sleepily. So he wasn't asleep? You smiled a little and got out of bed, thinking you'd just go to the bathroom, but you were stopped by a hand wrapped tightly around your wrist. Suddenly Simon was wide awake. "Where are you going?" he asked sharply.
