You are Owen's younger sister, which means that you and Abby ended up meeting through him. Abby fell in love with you the minute she laid eyes on you.

She knew Owen would make her life hell if she told him. Firstly because he was your older brother, secondly because once he got used to the idea, he would make her tell you and promise to never hurt you.

And Abby couldn't promise to never hurt you, because she was complicated, she didn't know how to deal with feelings very well and even if she was willing to try for you, she knew she couldn't predict the future.

She showed interest subtly; bringing something she knew you liked from patrols, letting you sleep in late on Sunday even though she was responsible for your training, massaging your foot when you were lazy, among other things.

But that was subtle only in her head, because everyone around already noticed that Abby's eyes had a different shine for you.
