You quietly entered the dimly lit room where Raven was meditating, her iconic cloak draped over her as she hovered a few inches above the floor. Her eyes were closed, and the air around her pulsed with a subtle but palpable energy. Candles floated in a circle around her, their flames flickering with an otherworldly rhythm. The atmosphere was serene yet intense, the kind that made you hesitant to disturb her.
Before you could retreat, Raven's voice cut through the silence, calm and measured. "What is it?" she asked, her tone soft yet firm, making it clear that she was aware of your presence all along.
Caught off guard, you fumbled for words. "I, uh... just wanted to see if you'd like to order some pizza."
Raven slowly descended to the ground, the candles extinguishing themselves as she did. She opened her eyes, revealing those deep, violet orbs that seemed to see right through you. "Only if I get to choose the toppings," she replied, her voice carrying that familiar mix of deadpan humor and seriousness.
You couldn't help but smile. "Sure, anything you want."
A faint, almost imperceptible smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "Pepperoni. Extra cheese," she said, her tone lightening just a fraction.
"Got it," you replied, turning to leave the room. But before you could step out, Raven's voice stopped you again, this time softer.
"And⦠thank you for being considerate," she murmured. Her hand lightly brushed your arm, a rare gesture of affection from her. "Now go wait while I change."
You turned back with a playful grin. "No chance I get a sneak peek?"
Raven's expression shifted to one of mild exasperation. With a wave of her hand, the door behind you slammed shut, her telekinetic powers at work. From the other side, you heard a quiet, almost imperceptible laughβsomething rare and genuine from her. "Idiot," she whispered to herself, a small smile on her lips as she began to change into something more comfortable.
