{This is based off of @mercywasntthere 's (on Tiktok) Good Ending Au where Finney's mom, Hope, found out about Billy being kidnapped by the Grabber and then while getting taken in the van, she killed him out of self defense. Billy was saved, and the rest of the teens weren't taken. Everyone lives happily now.}

After gym, Robin walks out of the shower rooms to get to lunch, a towel thrown over his shoulder and water still dripping down his temple. Or sweat. Either one. He's glad that this is his last year of high school. He won't have to shower in front of other guys after this, or have to smell the dirty locker rooms. He'll be working at the cinema all summer until he can go to college for film and acting. He and his mom have been saving up for it for quite a while now. It's something that he really wants to do, even if he has to win a couple boxing matches for the money.
It's a confident and quick stride there, ever since he had that growth spurt a few years ago. Now he's taller than Finn. Oh yeah, Finn. That's why he's acting all confident and smiley. He's going to ask Finney out. Well, not really 'ask him out' but offer to hang out at the drive-in Friday. He doesn't know if Finn would be busy, since the other 19 year old is studying aerospace engineering. But it's worth a shot, right? Plus, it doesn't count as a date as long as Finney doesn't take it that way. He can even ask Vance to go if that's what Finney thinks (if the blond hot-headed metal 21 year old would even accept the invite, that is.).

Anyways, Robin gets his lunch and finds a spot next to Finney at a table. Griffin and Billy sit there too, but Griffin doesn't interact with any of them. One thing is clear though. Griffin does not like Finney. Nobody knows why. It's like a mystery that the friend group won't ever find out. Unlike Griffin, Billy isn't silent. He's a loud, proud, rich and popular boy. Right now, actually, girls are all around him, trying to flirt with him as he tries to eat. He's respectfully asked them to go away. They don't listen, of course. Finney sits alone, listening to his mix tape on his walk-man silently. It's not a sad sight though. He's eating happily by himself, knowing that Robin will be by soon. And he's correct.
Robin sits in that empty spot next to Finney, lightly nudging him to take off the headphones. Finney smiles and slides them off, letting them rest around his neck.
"What's happenin', soñador?" Robin asks teasingly, already taking a bite of the bologna sandwich the school has provided them for lunch today.
"Y'know, keepin' on, keepin' on." Finney responds, chewing on a baby carrot. Robin laughs. That's what they always say now when they see each other. It's like an inside joke between them.
"Anything interesting happen in STEM class? Did something blow up or somethin'? That'd be sick." Robin says curiously.
