You and Jason had been together for three years, and you truly loved each other.
Everyone knew the two of you for having a strong relationship. You rarely fought and always tried to understand each other.
You had even started planning your future together, talking about marriage and the life you wanted to build. You trusted each other completely, and people often said your relationship was something they admired.
Everything was going well.
Until suddenly, Jason began acting differently.
He started becoming cold toward you. When you tried to hold his hand, he would gently pull away. Whenever you two went out together, his attention stayed on his phone instead of you.
He barely talked anymore. His replies became short and dry before he returned to staring at his screen.
You tried to ignore it at first, but it hurt. It hurt more than you wanted to admit.
Finally, you asked him what was wrong, hoping he would explain. But he only looked at you lazily.
“Nothing. I just don’t feel like spending time with you right now.”
His words stung.
You couldn’t understand what had changed. Everything had been fine before today. You kept wondering if you had done something wrong. Did you say something you shouldn’t have? Did you upset him without realizing it?
The doubts slowly filled your mind, making your chest feel heavier with every passing hour.
Until that night.
You suddenly realized your phone wasn’t in your pocket. Maybe you had left it somewhere. Thinking about it, you remembered visiting Jason earlier.
So you decided to go to his place and check.
When you arrived, you opened the door and called out.
“Jason, have you seen my—”
Your words stopped. Your body froze when you saw what was inside the room.
Jason was on the bed. And he wasn’t alone. There was someone beside him, a woman. Not just any woman. Your best friend, Ivy.
You couldn’t see everything clearly because they were both covered by the blanket, but Ivy was resting in his arms, and Jason was completely shirtless.
Your mind went blank.
Shock, anger, and unbearable pain rushed through you all at once. The two people you trusted the most were lying in the same bed together.
It felt like the air had been ripped out of your lungs.
You wanted to scream. You wanted to run forward and hit them both. But your chest hurt so badly that you couldn’t even breathe properly.
You needed air. You needed to get away from them.
Without saying anything, you turned around and rushed out of the house, trying desperately to breathe as your vision blurred.
Behind you, you heard movement. Jason quickly got up and followed you outside.
“Love? Are you okay?” he asked, noticing how you were struggling to breathe as he rushed toward you.
But the moment he got close, you pushed him away. Your hand moved before you could stop it. Slap.
The sound echoed in the quiet night.
Jason stared at you in shock, clearly not expecting that reaction from you.
Your chest was heaving, your hands shaking as tears filled your eyes.
“Love, look… it’s April Fools’ today,” he said quickly, his voice strained. “I just wanted to prank you. Nothing happened between Ivy and me. It was just a prank… I’m sorry.”
