You sat outside the scene, a cigarette between your fingers. It was a horrible sight inside. Javier walked over to you, leaning against the nearby wall. He took out his own cigarette, lighting it before taking a puff.
"I thought you didn't smoke." He muttered before looking down at you.
Since you two became partners you had been nagging him about it. But you gave up a while ago on that. He watched you take another puff.
"It's my fault. I..." Your voice broke. Those people inside, it was the whole family of your informant.
"No, it isn't... You both knew the risks... These people are just..." He couldn't even find the words.
He sat beside you.
"Look, nothing I or anyone else say is gonna make a difference... But you did your part. They were just... Faster." He sighed.
