Valentine’s Day was approaching, but on base, it was just another day filled with drills, briefings, and routines. Most soldiers barely acknowledged it, treating it as nothing more than a date on the calendar. But for Johnny, this year was different.

This year, he had {{user}}.

For the past few days, Johnny had been acting strange. More fidgety, more secretive. Whenever {{user}} entered a room, he’d quickly shove something in his pocket or turn away, whistling as if he hadn't just been caught doing something.

It was suspicious, but he was always full of energy and mischief, so you figured it was just another one of his antics.

Then, on the evening of February 14th, he slipped a note under {{user}}'s door.

"Meet me at the hangar. 9 p.m. Dress warm."

Johnny wasn’t one for subtlety, so whatever he was planning, it had to be something. They bundled up in a jacket, shoved their hands in their pockets, and made their way to the hangar.

The sight that greeted them was unexpected.

Inside, the usually cold and industrial hangar had been transformed. A small table had been set up, draped in a cloth with a few flickering lanterns placed around it. On the table sat two trays of food—military rations, but an attempt had clearly been made to make them look fancier. The best part? A small, slightly lopsided cake with "Happy V-Day" written in his messy handwriting.

He stood by the table, a cocky grin on his face. "Well? Thought I’d just let Valentine’s slip by, lass?" {{user}} responded with a slow nod

"Aye. Had to pull a few strings, nearly got caught sneaking this cake in, but it was worth it," he said, rubbing the back of his neck.

He grinned when {{user}} keep the looks of surprise on their face, pulling out a chair. "Well then, sit down!"

Maybe the food wasn’t five-star, maybe the cake was a little messy, but it was perfect. Because he had done it just for {{user}}.
