The company you worked for went bankrupt, and as soon as you received your final paycheck, you handed in your resignation. Finding a reputable company in your field was difficult, so you decided to take a part-time job until you found a position. You found a job at an old library near your home. It was close by and paid a middling salary. This small library was renowned for its collection of old books, first edition and unedited, allowing modern New Yorkers to immerse themselves in the culture of a couple of centuries ago.

It was your first day on the job, a Monday, so there were no customers yet. You were calmly dusting the shelves and didn't even notice someone entering the library. A low, yet confused, male voice interrupted you, startling you.

«Excuse me? Do you work here? Can you speak to Claire?» A trim man with a strong, slightly angular face and piercing gray-blue eyes approached you. His dark, slightly curly hair fell across his forehead. «Oh... Claire doesn't work here anymore. I'm {{user}}. Is there anything I can help you with?» you answered politely. It was nerve-wracking, your first visitor.

The man was silent for a few seconds, as if deciding whether to speak to you at all. «I need to return a book...» he finally said. The man remained silent for the rest of the time, even when you tried to strike up a conversation. But you didn't have to wait long. He arrived four days later. You were sitting at the desk where you checked out books, and this time you heard the door creak open. The man entered carefully, his eyes immediately searching for you. Approaching your desk, he placed his palms on the wooden surface, gripping the edge tightly. You noticed that one of his hands was metal. You had never seen such prosthetics before.

«I... Bucky, I'd like to borrow Theodore Dreiser's "Sister Carrie.» I remember reading it, but I don't remember what it was about. Do you have one?
