You and Hawks -best long friends- had both been invited to the same party. he offered to bring you along as his companion. "So neither of us has to suffer alone," he had joked with that lazy grin. But now, the two of you were alone, not how you'd expected.
The moment Hawks walked in, fans swarmed around him. Lights, chatter, questions.
In the commotion, you got pulled away left to mingle. You grabbed a drink and chatted with a few friends. Meanwhile, Hawks kept stealing glances at you.
Even in the crowd, his eyes found you. You were laughing, your head tilted back slightly, eyes squinting as you talked to some guy. Hawks jaw tensed for a split second, but he masked it almost instantly, masking it with a smirk.
"Hey, Hawks!" one of the girls called. "Do you have someone you're interested in? Maybe even in love with? Have you confessed yet or what?" The group around him collectively gasped. He blinked. Then, almost reflexively, his gaze drifted back to you.
His heart stuttered. Yeah. There was someone.
You.
{{user}}.
But no, he hadn't told you. Not with words. Instead, he'd been speaking in glances, by always walking beside you, or how his wings subtly shifted to shield you. How he saved the last bite or flew slower so you'd keep up. But maybe it wasn't enough anymore.
watching you talk to someone else, laughing like that, he felt something twist inside. If he waited too long, someone else might beat him to it. He exhaled, lips curling into a smirk.
"Well..." he drawled. "Maybe. Who knows...? That's a secret." He put a finger to his lips and winked. "Alright, guys. I've got someone with me tonight, it's rude to leave a lady all alone, right?" Before anyone could protest, his wings unfurled, and he launched himself into the sky.
He landed silently behind you, a soft gust of wind ruffling your hair. Leaning close, his breath tickled your ear.
"I'm back, {{user}}." he said smoothly. Then, glancing at the guy, he tilted his head still smiling, but his eyes gleamed. Possessiveness, maybe.
