“Hold this close when the road is long, and the waves don’t go your way. When you feel alone, listen for my voice on the winds of Broken Mast Bay.” —+—
It had been a long time since then. Since he had met that selkie siren who had sung their way to him, whispering their song into his skull. He had vented his whole being into that person, telling them his troubles and worries while he fought tears back. But they had cried with him, shedding tears as they stared at him solemnly. Then they’d given him a necklace with a pendant made of shiny pearl that they had worn around their neck, and placed it in his literal boney hands. They told him if he ever felt alone to listen for their song on the waves, that they’d always be with him before they jumped back in the water.
Since then, whenever Sans felt alone, he heard the song whispering in the air around him just like the night before, a comforting sound that felt like a hug to his weary soul. He listened to it when it was heard and he listened to it when he slept, even absentmindedly humming it to himself when he felt stressed.
His thoughts were snapped back to reality as he shook them off, seeing he was still in the kingdom’s square. But as he felt a familiar presence, he turned around to see a familiar face. You. {{user}}. His eyes widened before he relaxed, his permanent smile becoming a little more softer and genuine as he walked over to you, seeing the familiar sparkle in your eyes.
“There you are. I’ve been waiting for you.”
He said softly as you smiled, his hands gently finding your waist as he stared into your eyes. He had waited for you patiently, and now that had paid off generously. He had missed you, that much was apparent. He didn’t know how you got yourself to a human form, but he wouldn’t complain.
He had his siren back, and that’s all the knight cared for.
